We're Getting A New Server!

Last night at 4am was the last straw. A new server is being instated as we speak.

The current one is a single P4 with 1.5G RAM and a IDE hard drive.

The new one is MUCH more powerful - Dual 2.8GHz Xeon, 2G ECC RAM and with 3 blazing fast SCSI drives.

I'm going to be configuring it for the next few days, with the actual migration of the site and forums over the weekend. I'll post more info at the time.

*Finally* I should be able to get some sleep at night 🙂

why not have two servers running full time with those configs connected to a third as a firewall...that way if one of the two should crash the other will take over....

After spending the past 3 days configuring and installing a brand new operating system, it came to my attention that there is a hardware fault on the new server. Currently the techs at the datacenter are replacing the faulty hardware.

Because of this, the server move is being delayed until next weekend. I will be running extensive tests in the meantime to make sure we have no problems in future.

the only switch that went "wrong" was when it went from EZboards to VBulletin, all the server upgrades and moving that happened later on, never formed a problem
