I agree their not the best, but I think Tre is pretty underrated as a lyricist. Its because with The Pharcyde he never has a chance to be serious. Check out his lyrics from his collaboration with Korn:

He has plenty of "serious" songs with the pharcyde. A lot of them are similar to the lyrics you just posted above. Check out labcabincalifornia for a few. Also, his solo material is in the same vein. I love Butterfly.
