the most popular band in teh world (The Beatles) were way less commercialized than any band on a major label today; just because the record labels weren't out ONLY to make a buck. They were owned not by corporations, but by music lovers.

I agree with LZ being overrated, but The Who is really underrated. They were the best hard rock band of the time (assuming Sabbath is in the Metal genre). The Stones are overrated, but were nevertheless a great band. Sympathy for The Devil remains one of the best rock songs ever.

And this thread has gone this long without anyone mentioning Chicago? for Shame.

I love punk but Sabbath kicked some serious ass.

if you only concentrate on one type of music, you are missing out on a majority of the good music out there, slasherpunk.

I never said that I listen to only one type of music,I just love punk.

You're going to bash good music like the Stones and Led Zepplin and then praise Chicago?
Suddenly feeling nauseous....

He wasn't bashing Led Zep and the Stones, in fact he said the Stones were a great band if you look closely. Saying a band is overrated does not mean it's bad. And I agree with him that LZ and the Stones are overrated.

I'm so sick of hearing about the god damn stones.

I haven't heard anything about them in a long time.

Will you stop it. He may be saying LZ is overated but he's not saying they suck. Overated DOES NOT mean that they suck, it means that they are given to much credit.

Oh I'm not getting sick over that. People are entitled to their opinions. I can't stand Chicago. I mean come on!

They're not as awful as some other groups, but they just rub me the wrong way.

I dont listen to the radio 😛

led zepplin and alice cooper
🤘

seriously. how can anyone say that the Rollingstones and Led Zepplin are overrated?

I've got like....all of their CDs and copies of their earlier work on Vinyl. They are two of the greatest bands ever, with COUNTLESS hits. The Rolling Stones 40 Licks CD and Led Zepplin's How the West Was Won are both multi CD albums that contain some of the best music EVER recorded. There are over 25 hits on 40 Licks alone. I love The Who. The Guess Who are good as well.

I like pretty much everything everyone else has named, but I'll add a little bit here.

REO Speedwagon's good. I like Tom Petty, Jimmy Buffett's style of caribbean rock is a nice change in atmosphere...though he's starting to sound country on his newest release.

Def Leopard and Van Halen are considered classics though they aren't THAT old quite yet. Jackson Brown, the Eagles, and I guess you could consider Fleetwood Mac classic as well. All great bands that play great music.

I love listening to a little Heart, and Joe Walsh's solo work was great.

Led Zeppelin 🤘
