Yes. My parents didn't want me playing too many sports in highschool, because they said it took up too much time and I was never around.
I secretly joined the track team when I was a softmore and only went to meets that were during school hours. One meet lasted waaaaaay too long. I planned for this by telling my parents, the day before, that I was going over to a friends house after school.

My mother made a pork chop dish that day for dinner. The friend I said I was visiting stated he liked pork chops a lot. So my mother, being the thoughtful person she is, called my friend's house to see if my friend and I wanted to eat dinner with my parents since she made my homies' favorite. Well, obviously I wasn't there. I forgot to have my friend lie for me.
Poop hit the fan when I got home. My father was a control freak. Needless to say, I was grounded the rest of the school year and the rest of the summer vacation. My father wasn't going to let me play football in the fall, but the coach called him as did the principal and convinced him I was needed. (2 days after practice started.) I'm was REALLY glad to move out. I hated living with my parents.
All of that just because I wanted some medals. Most parents would be overjoyed to have a child that was an successful athlete instead of smoking weed with their buddies, getting drunk, etc. But nooooooo, I needed to be home at least some of the time. Still haven't forgiven my parents for that. Prolly never will. (Can you tell I'm a tad bitter?)
