a SOCK is a second profile...or in rammstein's case, a third one.

Many of you say you don't think Hyperspace is worth paying for. You say that it is "advertising" or an "unfinished product".

First, it's not advertising. If it was advertising, you wouldn't be seeking it out. It is something of interest to you. If it was just advertising for something you're not interested in, you wouldn't even have to be involved with it at all. So why do you want it? You want it because it shows you a behind-the-scenes look at how they make these movies. That is worth something.

Which brings me to my second point. Some have said that Hyperspace is a look at an unfinished product, therefore you shouldn't pay for it. The point of Hyperspace is to give you a look behind the scenes -- to show you exactly how they put this movie together. That's what it's for. It's for people who are interested in the production aspect, not just the finished film. That is worth something to a lot of people.

Besides, there are many unfinished products that people would be willing to pay for. If someone said, "I'll sell you the first draft of the United States Constitution," that would be worth buying. Even though it's not the final product, it's of great value. If someone said, "I have the very first Spider-Man comic ever made, but they forgot to run it through the coloring process. It's one of only 5 original comics that are only in black and white," collectors would be willing to pay tons of money for that. So you see, even though Hyperspace isn't the whole picture, it's still of value to you. Yet you don't want to pay for it.

Why not? Because you saw each movie 10 times in the theater? Because you bought action figures, clothes, etc? How is Hyperspace any different? If it's because it's just online instead of being something you can hold in your hands, just save the stuff to your computer and print it out. Put all of the webdocs on a DVD and watch it on your TV or something.

If you really thought Hyperspace isn't worth money, then why do you want it? You come here to see all of this amazing stuff which you get excited about, yet you don't think it's worth anything?

but to shoot down some points:

-ok, its worth SOMETHING...but so is ALL information on the web. i go to sites to read the world's news...should i pay for that as well since i see worth in it? people are hard at work constantly updating those sites, and i dont give them a dime, and they dont care....why? advertising.

-first draft of the constitution? rare sipderman comic? those would be worth a buttload of money and would appreciate in value over time....i cant see where you are going with that, but i can tell its a bad comparrison.

-watch it on DVD!?!?! yeah, maybe that would look ok on a 10" TV.

-hyperspace cost the same amount for one to see ep3 in the theaters 4 times...FOUR TIMES!!!!!! and you will sit there and tell me thats not a ripoff? thats like saying "here, you can buy my painting for 10$, but if you want to buy a postcard size print of the rough scetch, that will be 40$

-we get excited because we are fans of star wars. we are SW geeks, thats just the way we are.

IT IS if we share them with people who havent got a clue.

Again its not us who seek it ; we are simply offing the material to persons who havent got a clue that SW ep 3 is meant to be released in 2005 (at least in my case thats what i do )

I want it to promote the EP3 movie even further than the frontiers it has reached. that brings LFL more revenue and it should be grateful. and it is completly free promotion to the movie and LFL know it.

I have done this with production pics of TROY & the upcoming movie of Oliver Stone 'ALEXANDER'

your arguement supports an idea that we should pay for anything of interest to us. im sorry, but i see no sanity in such a view. step back from your arguement and see the big picture.

go to the quicktime site and see trailers and documentary footage of top hollywood films for free, which i know you do, and ask yourself "how crappy would this be if i had to pay for it?"

then go to your favorite news site, and other places where you get information which is valuable to you and ask "what if they charged for me to see this?"

and, what if you had to pay to post on this very message board, since it obviously holds value to you, in that you are interested in it and want to use it?

think about your arguement pragar, think hard.
the direction LFL is taking is a bad one (hyperspace i mean)
and if other big companies and sites see it to be lucrative,
we will all find ourselves paying through the nose for any and all information.

it's a slippery slope

who cares people have it and some don't choose to want it so I say just stop argueing and talk about starwars it is last one so why bicker and gripe just get along for now may force be with you all I'm not taking sides on this.

GO GO GO PVS!!!!

well said

yeah i have to agree

me too

not to mention that the ep3 DVD will be half the cost of HS when it comes out. the finished product, in all its high-resolution glory, in your hands...costing half the price of a low res web documentary....

GL is charging unfair fees to his most dedicated audience, an audience who's adoration and loyalty for his work allow him to live like a king.

imho he is unfairly exploiting his core fan-base, and i believe its wrong.
i dont think it makes him a bad person, just misguided in this
particular business venture. we as his loyal fans choose not to hate him, or boycott him (which i would certainly do if it was anyone else).
however, we will continue to share HS info.

bravo my friend

geez PVS ; u should contest for the office in the upcoming elections ! 😉

naa...politics is a dirty business 😆

LFLare paranoid that someone will use these pics to make a personal profit on them and as far as i know , i havent seen a constant poster or member on this forum who has tried to make malicious intent with the said material.

true; productions hate it when the paparazzi snap up pics and sell them to mags, newspapers and TV channels. In that case LFL would have a justified reason to complain.

But when LFL are THEMSELVES provinding this material against payment to profit i find it very ridiculous that they did not forecast or anticipate that these pics would reach peopl who dont fork out $$$ to LFL and then they set foot to blast and formally approach sites that provide them FREE!

well, they will try to give the "intellectual property" arguement ala file sharing and music/movie sharing, where things of cost are given away for free. in this case though, such works are tangible products, which you can find in your local store. thus, it can be argued that this type of sharing is theft. but HS is just news, nothing more.....news. "whats going on in production today" these are not works of art, or timeless images and movies, they are raw DOCUMENTS of the making of an artwork. all interest in these clips will be nonexistent on may19, and will be nothing more than dvd extras at best.
