I don't know the name of this old movie I saw

I feel like this is a bit of a long shot but I'll try anyway.

I want to know the name of a horror film I saw over 13 years ago, it was a hired video I saw at someone else’s place. Since it was a long time ago and I was very young I haven’t been able to find out what it was. I'll just tell you what I can remember.

It was actually a few short films in one. I think there was three of them and they might have originally been shown on TV.

One film had a woman who got strangled by some kind of ghost whenever she saw her own reflection, each time she saw her reflection the strangling got worse, so eventually she got rid of all the reflective surfaces she could. I think the last time it happened was when she saw her reflection in her partner’s eyes, she got strangled and ran through a second story window.

Another film had a group of young people who were out swimming(?) in this lake. At the centre was a floating(?) platform that they were on. The people started getting eaten by some kind of liquid thing that was a bit darker? than the water. I'm not too sure about the details of this one but I remember there was one guy left (after the others had been eaten or whatever) and he had a swim for the shore and made it. He was then sitting on the edge when the thing made itself into a wave and dumped it's self over the guy to eat him or whatever it did.

The other film I remember was when a woman driving a car kept on trying to run-over a man but he wouldn't die. At some point she was driving in some forest. I can remember even less about this one than the last.

I'm not sure if there where any other films or what order the films were in. If anyone knows the title of the whole thing (or just a single film) I would like to know. I eventually would like to get a copy, as it would be good to see it again. I could show it to my sister as well, she had nightmares for weeks after we saw it. I think we were about 6 and 8 y/o when we saw it. Anyway thanks for any help.

I've wanted to know the title of it for years.
I did a bunch of net searches earlier and couldn't find anything. I should of posted here without bothering to search. It seemed pretty easy in the end.

The second two stories I mentioned above are in ‘Creepshow 2’ but the first one with the strangling isn’t. It must be from something else I saw around that time, but I would still like to know what it is. I looked up ‘Creepshow’ as well and it wasn’t in that either. It will still be good to see the other two stories I mentioned in ‘Creepshow 2’ again plus the other one I can’t remember.

I realised that I have seen part of the first ‘Creepshow’ as I remember the fourth story with the people being buried in the sand and drowning in the rising tide. I’ll have to see that again too.

So all I need to know now is; what was the film with the strangling in it called? Thanks

You have seen the first one Ghetto? Do you remember what it was called?

I looked up 'Trilogy of terror' and no luck there. But still thanks. Maybe it was a film on its own.

I believe you have it a bit confused. It was a man...not a woman. It is from "Amazing Stories" the movie made based on the twilight zone-esque tv show.

That is one of the stories (I believe there are 4).......another one stars Patrick Swayze as a prison inmate who gets struck by lightning while trying to escape. From that point on he can heal people....but he has already been sentenced to death and is going to be executed. It's not relevant to your topic but I thought that might jolt a memory for you.

Yeah, I must have got it wrong about the woman. There are probably other thing I got wrong as well. I just remembered it being a woman. It was a while a go.

I'll check out the the movie some time.

Evil Dead, I recall a similar show (to the mirror story), except it involved a male horror writer who was haunted by the reflection. The story began with him being hounded by a couple of journalists who chastised him for the violence and gore in his stories, and his blowing them off.

He first saw the creature at a mirror in his home bar, in the bedroom, in his rearview mirror while waiting to leave a parking garage, and I believe once in a cop's mirrored sunglasses. He sees the creature getting closer each time.

Finally, when his lady friend comforts him and he's lying in bed, exhausted from the stress, he sees the monster in her eyes, and it pops out and strangles him (though all she sees is him lying in bed, choking.

I thought it was from a mid-80's "Twilight Zone", "Tales from the Darkside" or some such show, but now I'm wondering if they just ripped it off from that "Amazing Stories" episode. Any thoughts?

Since we've cleared that one up can anyone help me with this one I saw on video about 10 years ago? Again its a film consisting of short stories (It might be a Creepshow sequel), in the only one I can remember the main character is a big fat kids who kills flys for fun. After he kills them and pulls their wings off he builds model cities and places the dead flys in them as though they are the citizens.

Anyway, one night he breaks into a farmers property to steal this miracle grow minure in the hope that it will make his flys grow really big before he kills them and turns them into part of his attraction. The farmer catches him with the stuff and eventually lets him go and keep the minure, the farmer has a sly look on his face suggesting its a trick.

When the kids puts the flys in the minure they grow giant and pull the kids arms and legs off in revenge! I know Ive rambled there but does anyone know what this film is??

that is from a movie. It's from the Amazing Stories movie....not the tv show.

It was on basic cable all over the place like 8-9 years ago....probably where you saw it. It's basically just like the Twilight Zone movie....four different stories (each one about the length of one television episode).

I looked on IMDB to find more info for it.......but they have none. The only thing else I can clearly remember about the movie was the Patrick Swayze short I mentioned earlier. He's a prisoner...tries to escape...is struck by lightning. Now he can heal the sick...but he's already been sentenced to be executed. He heals the warden's wife or daughter or something right before they put him in the electric chair. They eletricute him...he's sitting there dead. He starts glowing (heals himself)....lifts his head back up and they say, "what now?"....as the short goes off.

I just did a google search. Apparently it was both a tv show and a movie. When they made the movie, they just took 4 different epidsodes and put them together. The episodes had previously aired on television as part of the tv series.

I believe this one was called "mirror/mirror"......and was on the Amazing Stories IV movie.

You da man. Thanks. There's just no telling how many episodes from those shows are bouncing around in our memories, but I wish they'd re-broadcast some of them. They were pretty good, as I recall.

every great now and again ........like the third sunday on every other month with an "N" in it, the sci-fi channel does re-broadcast Amazing Stories at like 4 am.

One of these days, I'd like to see "Family Dog" again. I looked up "Mirror, Mirror", and it said that the actor who played "Tim's Phantom" (which I can only assume was the creature that came after the main character) was none other than--Tim Robbins!
The episode aired in March of 1986, when he had only done a few, not-too-well-known movies (unless you count "Top Gun", which came out later that year).

Good, the anwser popped out! But a bit more information, if you liked those short movies. At least 2 of them are written by Stephen King, maybe all 3. They appear in the book Nightshift or Skeleton crew, can't remember exactly. Check those out, real freaky writings and far better then on film.
