..no2...poor little Pirate_monkey tis will not be the case at all,too many people have come up with that theory.During the 1st episode of lost even i thought that maybe it would turned out to be a dream.. then i quickly dismissed it due to the fact that it was way to obvious to go that way and good story writing never ends with the usual cop out of a dream...they've got more chance of them being abducted by aliens then it being a dream of some sort...

people on the island wont like that..cause they'll see it as giving up and accepting that they're stuck there..and that they'd rather put all that energy into finding a way of the island..plus they already have the caves..and temporary little shelter things..plus i bet they find something on the island cause remember the bridge..maybe the other inhabitants have already built other stuff aswel..
