I think we'll find out,I mean locke raised the question to Jack when they were searching so I dont think the writers will forget if a character has brought it up 😕
I am new here, but check out this spoiler:
Spoiler:I did not see this mentioned before, but if it was, sorry. Just shows they had a plan from the begining.
watch the very end of episode 3, when Walt is walking on the wreckage, what do you see behind him? Watch the white rabbit episode when jack finds the wreckage in the cave, what do you see behind him?

Well someone close to the show(I know the names but I dont know therir affiliations to the show)where doing an interview or answering question at a convention and they said that the plane definetly did not crash by accident."It crashed for a very specific reason"
Any of you think LOCKE is in on it?He always seems to know what to do like he planned this or something.

People are looking a little too hard. The symbol on the wreckage isn't even an octogon, it's more of a hexagon.
Spoiler:
It's a definite octagon, count the sides that show & you can see the parallel sides. Also, I can see the swan in both shots. I'm gonna have to go over the whole season again, to look for more. And don't forget there are different variations on the symbol too, like the backwards R, and the one on the shark fin wasn't "broken" and had a different center. It's funny hoe they started showing the symbol everywhere in the last 2 episodes, and it was right there from the beginning.
