When Jack's talking to the Others leader, and he brings out Kate as a hostage, he says, "Bring her out, Alex!" Now Alex is the child of the French woman who was taken by the others 16 years ago, so now we have proof she's (he? Is it Alexander or Alexandra?) one of them. They didn't show Alex though. Also, my friend swears when Sawyer gets shot in the hand it wasn't a gun; don't know why he thinks so but he senses a connection to the electromagnetic forces mentioned in "the Ultimate Theory" which you should find below.
Also, the other leader was wearing shoes (apparently; again, my friend, but he's observant so I trust his judgment) when it's a well-known fact that the Others don't wear shoes. Are there two groups of Others? Especially since guns don't seem like the MO of the Others from the Other 48 Days. But Alex was there, and Alex was taken in a way similar to the way the children were taken in the Other 48 Days, so maybe it's just the leader who's a little more civilized.
Also, the other leader had a World War II rifle, and the knife they found on the other in 48 days was from that era, wasn't it? Maybe it was just from a Dharma facility. And the other leader didn't seem to know what Jack was talking about when he was talking about Ethan (there's rumor he's coming back) so there might be another group there; who knows what's going on on the island?
...Or you could just get the DVDs and find the Season 2 episodes somewhere.
