for homework i need to find out how plants are crossbred, ive searched the web high and low and nothing. can you tell me how they are cross breed

Well the daddy flower meets the mammy flower....

ummm.... I forget the dudes name who first did it. i know he was a gardener from the 18th century. I know greger mendel was the first guy to succesfully cross breed plants, it was a pea plant. Do you need to know how to cross breed a certain kind of plant, or would the process of cross breeding pea plants work? i could find a site in the guy for you which might help.
