i just saw jarhead and he didtn seem to hairy..
to give him some credit since silly fangirls dont know anything about talent ill say hes becoming a very good actor, im really starting to like him. Hes shown a very wide range of rolls and now with donnie darko and the newly awesome jarhead i really like him.
Jake Gyllenhaal had a violent eruption on the set of “Jarhead,” going off-script and punching out a co-star.
In one scene from the movie about the 1991 Gulf War, Gyllenhaal’s character puts his rifle muzzle in another actor’s mouth.
“When I pulled it out, [I hit myself in the mouth and] I remember I looked down and saw that my tooth had come off,” Gyllenhaal told reporters while promoting the flick. “For some reason,” Gyllenhaal said, “I just got so angry that I had chipped my tooth ... and just started hitting him and we didn’t talk for a month after that.”
i think he was somewhat joking there... this is a direct quote from him...
Gyllenhaal got so into a scene where he is depicting Swofford mentally breaking down, that he chipped his front tooth.
"It was at a point where I realized that like I had told Sam before we started 'I'll throw up in the sand for you. I'm gonna do anything I can for you,' but I never thought I would chip off my tooth for him. That's permanent," Gyllenhaal laughed.
[It] "was the scene with Fergus in the tent, where I put the rifle up to my mouth. I asked Brian [Geraghty, who plays Fergus] in one take, the last take, 'if you could not hold the rifle so tight' because I really felt like he didn't want to you know. He was really holding on to it tight and I really had to pull at him to get the rifle and I just said can you not pull? And I forgot because the scene is so long. I asked at the beginning of the scene and it just went bam into my mouth when I pulled. I remember I looked down and I saw that my tooth had like come off, I had it in like my hand," he continued.
Of course he's downplaying it now. After the 30-day standoff ended, I'm sure he realized how dumb they looked so they tried to play it off like they were all cool about it from the beginning.
Typical behavior for most people in everyday society, too. Especially ones with images to protect, like Mr. Gyllenhaal.
