that was also the plot to an episode of Static shock..if I'm not mistaken...I also hated the episode when Pete used Kytonite gas in the car....lame and pointless.
I hate every episode where the writers treat clark's powers like they aren't a part of him. Like they are just a removable add-on to a human being. Kinda ruins it - makes him more like a krypto-freak than an alien.
How many times has he had his powers taken away from him now? It's kinda silly. I can understand his powers weakening when exposed to kryptonite and maybe becoming 'human-like' in strength and everything, but to have them removed at the will of his dead daddy's voice is a bit stupid.
I also didn't like the solar flare episode (as an example) for the above reasons; his powers being treated like an electricity supply, where if the plug is pulled, he will no longer have them, albeit only it's with the sun. If this was the case, he wouldn't have powers at night.
He's not like Nuclear-man from Superman IV! But, this is how the Smallville writers are putting him across as, to the viewers (whether you know it or not).
I remember in an episode of The New Adventures of Superman where some thugs lured superman into a dark place and they locked him in, and then they layed into him with fists and it hurt him. It was kinda stupid then and it's kinda stupid now, in Smallville.
