I kind of think it is unfortunate when a women (or man) has no other option but to resort to prostitution (yes, I know some do it willingly, but there are large numbers who are forced into it but there situations...). I don't really see how the situation would improve if it was legalised, as far as I am aware the laws in this case are intended to regulate and protect in the sex industry and those that work in it. Its not going away, so it has to be controlled to protect those involved. After all, brothels legally exist, and are supposedly regulated to protect the workers, but thats is far more difficult with prostitution.

what dont people understand that if prostitution was legalised it could be controlled and less rapes would take place and less stds would be spread on a more widespread scale.

Prostitution has been around since the beggining of time. Why should it be illegal?
