You're forgetting Venom is in the hands of a director who doesn't much care for him as a character.
Why else is he being forced to share his screen time with THREE other villains??
At least GG and Ock were shown some respect and given an entire movie to themselves.

Why do you think he added 3 other villains into the mix?? He couldn't stomach a movie with Venom as the solo villain.
Last time I will say this, and I hope we all can understand:
Raimi, though Venom is not his favorite, will create a workable character from his perspective. He has good taste when it comes to casting and making the characters as believable and true to the comic as possible. So far so good. He does not hate one character enough that he would just put him in a movie only to kill him twenty minutes later. He's a Spidey fan as well, granted he leans more toward the classic comics.
But he knows what Spider-Man fans want, what they'll tolerate, and he also knows what would make a great movie for him to watch. Trust me when I say this: Raimi will feature Venom in a fourth Spider-Man movie, but not the third. He knows that his first duty is to the consumer, and he knows what we want and what we can get over/used to (i.e. the organic webshooters). Venom (as we know him) will not be a villain in SM 3.
That's just your opinion though 😬
It is a FACT that he's putting Venom in with 3 other villains. Hardly an indication that he has alot of respect for him. At least Harry got development over the last two movies, all he needs to do now is hop on that glider and do his Goblin thing. And Church says Sandman is the main villain.
That kinda leaves Venom out in the cold. Just where Raimi wants him I reckon.
