See if I were thinking Raimi's way I'd say the one who has the next biggest connection to Peter, problem-wise, would be Venom but that's obviously not the case in this film. So I think we're all just completely in the dark. Hey for all we know he could've snapped and horribly has cast these guys to play Vulture and Kraven lol

ya, like everyone else, i am also completely in the dark. Although I know there is going to be A GOBLIN and theres all those persistent rumours of sandman...but these villains suck in my opinion...i like mysterio or scorpion more than them...

Whoever the new villain is you can bet he'll be altered in some way to somehow reflect a problem or symbolism in Peter Parker's life.
They did it with Goblin with the whole father/son thing.They did it with Ock with the student/idol thing.
Goblin represented the father that didn't take his great power with great responsibility.And all that crap of trying to make Spider-Man join him.As if Goblin would give a s*** if Spider-Man joined him or not.He doesn't need him.
Octavius had the life Peter wanted.Great scientist,woman he loved by his side.But then Octavius got his power and like Osborn used it for evil purposes.
So whoever the villain or villains are in SM-3 they too will reflect something in Peter's life in some way.Count on it.Raimi loves this dramatic stuff in Peter's life that everything else revolves around it in some way.
