Matt stood with Vash taking shots of vodka with vash while Savannah talked to Lainie.
"Hey Vash,do you feel a little uneasy?"
Vash downed a shot and looked at Matt with a look of puzzlement on his face.
"How do you mean?"
"You know,about those calls.You think it really was Zack?"
They were silent for a moment.
"I mean,are we just being paranoid and it's some stupid ******* trying to freak us out?"
They were again silent.
"I mean,every night for the past year,i've seen that ****in mask in my dreams Vash.I have to relive my best friend dying every time I close my eyes."
Matt's voice started to choke with emotion.
"Am I just being paranoid?"
Matt looked over at Savannah.he didn't want her to have to live through that shit again.he didn't want any of them to.
"Bye," Lainie said, kinda hoping Savannah would have offered to walked her to her car. She walked away from her friends, nervous about going outside alone. She got to the door and waved one last wave before she walked into the cold night.
As she walked towards her car (which was coveniently located on the other side of the parking lot) she kept a sharp eye. Almost to her car, she sudden;y her a noise behind her. She whipped around, seeing nothing. She turned back and started walking faster. She was just a few yards away from her car when she heard the same noise. She turned around again, just intime to see a dark figure duck behind some cars. She turn back towards her car, and ran.
Savannah walked out of the girls bathroom, she stumbled over her heals. "Whoa...." she said as she pushed out her arms towards the floor as if she was going to fall on top of it. "That was close" she looked back up towards where Matt and Vash were sitting. It looked like a thousand miles from where Savannah was standing to where they were sitiing. She walked over to one of the chairs by her, she sat down and closed her eyes as she just listened to the music.
Lainie continued to run, her heart pounding so hard she felt it would burst. She didn't have to look back to know that someone was chasing her. When she finally reached her car, she struggled to find the key to unlock the door. After hurridly sorting thru her keychain, she found the key to her Neon. Shaking and panicking, she fumbled to unlock her car, refusing to look in the direction of her attacker. Tears streamed down her face as she fought to stabalize her spastic hand. Finally, after what seemed like forever, she fit the key into the lock, and just as she opened the door and started to get inside, she felt a hand grab hold then loose grip of her shoulder. She slammed the door and locked it.
Lainie got into the driver's seat and fumbled the keys.
They fell down near the gas pedal.She looked up and saw her attacker finally.
The assailant was about 6 feet tall and wore a tattered black cape under which was a black cloak that was obviously worn and had huge streaks of blood on it.And to top it off was the white opera mask(the kind with the frown on it,not the smile) which was the only part of the figure not covered in blood.
"Oh my god..." muttered Lainie.
And with that,the masked assailant shoved his knife through the window.
Savannah felt someone tap her on the shoulder. It startled her. She turned around and saw a tall man dressed in black standing behind her. "Is this seat taken?" he asked her. "No it's free" Savanna said as she leaned her head back again. After a few minutes she looked over to ask the guy a question, but he was gone. Savannah scrunched her eye brows and and shifted her eyes around wondering where he went, she stood up and walked out to the middle of the dance floor.
Lainie struggled to put the key in the ignition, her attacker standing beside the driver-side window. Suddenly, the person bashed the window so hard Lainie jumped and dropped the keys. She turned towards the window and let out a blood-curdling scream as she stared into the black eyes of the opera mask. The attacker hit the window again, creating a spider web-like crack. Lainie reached down and struggled to find the keys in the darkness as the attacker continued to bash the window in.
Matt looked at Savannah while Vash continued to pound down shots of vodka.He didn't know what was wrong with her,but she did look a little out of it.
"Savannah," he said trying to get her to hear him.
"Are you alright?"
Then he got hit with some vodka breath.
"Oh," he said squinting a little bit.
He didn't know what to do so he just hugged her.
As the attacker bashed the window once more, Lainie realized she wouldn't find the keys in time. With that in mind, she started screaming as louad as she could for help as she slip over to the passenger seat and fumbled with the dorr handle. "Somebody please help me!" she cried as she opedned the door and jumped out of the car. She wasted no time in running as fast as she could towards the gym.
