Because in the wondrous land of physics the notion of "soul" holds no sway, therefore we are still animals - and if you dont differentiate then you may as well say when a Fly goes left instead of right on a window it has made a decision and *POW* a new universe is born.
Sorry to destroy the notion of ALTERNATE dimensions. But there's one problem with this idea, that whenever an event has more than one outcome, another alternate reality is created: Where does the ENERGY for this new Universe come from? There's a difference between the theorised - but unproven - idea of tiny compact extar dimensions, which are required to make string-theory work - and other Universes parallel to ours. IF they existed one of the two would apply: We can interact with these parallel dimensions OR we cannot interact with these parallel dimensions. If the latter holds, there's no need to worry about them or discuss them. We'll never have anything to do with them.
IF an interaction is possible - why don't we see it?
- to answer your first question...........where did the energy for this universe come from? As I'm sure you're well versed in all things Physics........energy can neither be created or destroyed, it can only change form. If we today after billions upon billions of years are still thriving on the energy that created our universe/demension.....the energy that just keeps recycling in our universe by changing form.........what makes you think the same would not hold true with the other universes/demensions that were created.........wouldn't they still be thriving on the energy recycling through those universes since their creation?
to answer your question of interaction..........we don't know if it is or is not possible. We know very little about the way our universe works......we are very young as a global culture in terms of intelligence as it relates to the universe. Hell, we've only be industrial for a hundred years.........we are however maturing rapidly. In less than 100 years we've gone from horse-drawn buggies to computer controlled, high altitude spy planes. Imagine what lies in store one hundred years from now that will make our computer controlled, high altitude spy planes look like horse-drawn buggies.
so far it's looking like our best bet is false gavity. As I'm sure you know, gravity is the term given to the warping of space-time fabric caused by an object with mass. The warping around the massive object causes a wrinkle around that object...............when that object ceases to exist, the warp still remains, which is what results in a black hole.
the trick involves somehow simulating a massive, concentrated amount of gravity to warp the space-time fabric.........resulting in an artificial black hole.......
there is the possibility of using naturally existing black holes. This used to be thought impossible as you would be completely torn apart at the molecular level long before reaching the singularity...........but recently we have discovered "spinning" black holes.......which were formed in motion and therefore the singularity is not a point that draws matter to it........but a ring............if entered directly in the center of the "ring" with gravity pulling equally on all sides, the affects would be cancelled out and you could sail on through. While very real scientifically.......it's still all science fiction as there is no way we could actually pull this off (even reach the black hole) with our current technology.
there's the tricky part.........it would be both.
If we were to somehow tear the fabric in space-time......just as a black hole.......travel through and emerge on the other side, we would no longer be in our own universe...........so we would be in a parallel universe (one existing simulaniously as this one).......it would also be an extension of the 4 dimensions of space-time that we know of because we would still have our physical bodies.....but it would not be in the normal 3 physical dimensions (x,y,z).........
as for alternate realities.........I'm not too keen on the idea. All I've really heard about it is from science fiction and even then only as it would relate to time-travel (preventing a paradox, new timeline spawns alternate reality)..............I tend to not buy into this.
And regarding alternate/parallel universes. Everything has a finite probablility of happenning, so each time an event occurs, it is causing the universe to diverge along a certain path, but there is a probablility of the event not occuring, which would cause the universe to diverge along a different path. Both of these universes exist alongside each other, but ours is defined by the events that have occurred, even though there are a virtually infinate number of parallel universes alongside our own in which the event did not occur, and destiny chose a different path for those universes to follow.
erm I might look stupid thinking of this but I think I have another theory of life... that we are living in a world of POSSIBILITIES, and everything is THERE for us to DISCOVER, and not create? (I have gone through this with much thought, even before I know about this site, which is today...) I believe there is a HIERARCHY of the possibilities of the world we are living in, but as for my prediction it won't be discovered that soon yet... maybe in 3 decades?
As for another dimension ("possibility"😉 that we might experience instead of what we already made, we can't experience it, unless....
I have a theory of "time travel" but not really time travel because it won't affect the past, at all.... that of SUBSTITUTION of oneself instead of real time travel... something that can process the thoughts of memories into virtuality(might be created in the future) since technology is advancing so quickly as everyone expected... "we have fantasy games..never imagined by our ancestors.."
please tell me if I am writing rubbish or is it something good... As for parralel dimensions, I am not familiar with it, coz I'm only 16...
peter........you are speaking of abstract thoughts...ideas......human creations. We are speaking of dimensions.........which are very real physical properties used to chart the fabric of space. This isn't a philosophical discussion.........it's a scientific discussion. Thank you for the input and sharing of ideas......just the wrong thread. There are 4 known dimensions. Three physical dimensions (x,y,z plane)......and time. This discussion is really centering around the possibility of other dimensions other than the four we already know of.
I think that the possibility of an alternate universe is more than possible, however, the theory that each decision made would create a new universe is a little thin. I think that it may be along those lines however it would depend on larger actions, say on the scale of three or four townages to global would result in another universe being born. However, I may be wrong here and welcome any comments.
