Post "Eve of Destruction": Following the dissolution of the Massachussetts Academy, Chamber was the only member of the "Generation X" class to graduate to full-time X-Man. On his trip from Massachussetts to Westchester, Starsmore was attacked by two men affiliated with the mutant zoo organization, PET'EM. Jon succesfully defeated the men and made his way to Xavier's school. He then took part in the X-Men's raid on a PET'EM facility, effectively becoming a member of the mutant team led by Iceman. Jon wasn't happy to discover that his former headmistress, Emma Frost, was one of his new teammates.
When former X-Man Rogue called the team for assistance in London, Chamber and Emma Frost went to her aid. The three mutants encountered the energy vampire Bleach, who was offering a false cure for the mutant gene in order to trick his victims into succumbing to him. Later, he joined the team during their mission in the Morlock Tunnels, where Marrow was preparing a mass human execution at the hands of her Gene Nation. It was there that Jon met the mutant bounty hunter Lockdown and, after the mission, invited him to return to Xavier's with the X-Men. Jon has since struck a friendship with Lockdown, but has kept his distance from the female members of his team, particularly Rogue and Angelica Jones.
When Starsmore received a video letter from his ex-girlfriend and former Generation X teammate, Husk, he and the X-Men traveled to Washington state. There, Jon discovered that Paige had joined a mutant environmental agency, the MFPE (Mutants For Protecting the Enivornment), and that Husk had used herself as bait to draw Emma Frost into a trap. The X-Men defeated the mutant group, but Jon allowed Paige to escape. The two encountered each other soon after when Jubilee gathered up the remaining members of Generation X to hold a funeral service for their deceased teammate, Skin.
