Started by justin247 pages

Hi all im new, just signed up and found this topic. I'm 24 and my gf is 38. although there is 14 years age difference between us it doesnt bother us. we discussed it for about a year before we started dating and we're still together after 2 1/2 years and we are very happy together and very much in love and get closer with each day

I like how you found a year and a half old topic.

wow really? i didnt know that i was just searchin around on yahoo and typed in age difference in relationships and it brought this forum up and i had to take a look and found this interesting topic so decided to post

As we age, gaps of a 5, 10 and even 15 years seem to matter less because our life experiences are more similar. (Large) Age differences can be overcome if people are at similar places in their lives. When you are a teen still finding your voice in this world, dating somebody who is significantly older can stifle you.

Does she have any kids? If so, what ages? Does she have a deranged ex-husband?

Age difference means very little, but those two things mean a whole helluva lot.

^^^^
good point

single women at that age can very well have some tremendous baggage, so certainly approach with reasonable scrutiny

If any of you in these young man/older woman relationships have never seen In The Bedroom, it's quite possibly the best (though a little extreme) example of the baggage you can have to deal with when having a relationship with an older woman who has experienced a lot more of life than you have.

that movie was ****ed up

My wife is 7 years younger than me and my dad is 10 years older than my mom. It depends on the level of maturity between the two.

I suppose it's a maturity thingie.

And surprise surprise it's atleast one episode of every US sitcom. IMO there all the same.

That was Off-Topic so it's best to ignore it.

This makes no sense. One, the movie has nothing to do with US sitcoms (hint: it's a drama and last time I checked King of Queens didn't have

Spoiler:
that fat dude shacking up with some older chick before her ex-husband came back and blew his brains out
), and two, it's not off-topic by any stretch! Three, PVS wasn't insulted or whatever the hell it was interpreted as.

If you were talking about another post (or tangent, in this case), then never mind and whoops.

It wasn't attacked at PVS and the point was all US sitcoms are basically the same. That is off-topic sinse this thread is about relationships and age differences in them.

Oh, your point was off-topic. Understand and agree.

Maturity and shared common knowledge with personality 😄

Don't forget deadbeat and alcoholic dads who likes to shoot at the ex-wifey's new boyfriends. Those cancel everything out.

That's when you make the ex a salad with rhubarb, mayflower and fox glove leaves........... 😈

🙂

I was in a relationship with a woman 11 1/2 years older than me. Worked out fine for a while until she kept freaking out about the age difference and what stages we were at in our lives. Goddamned psychologists.
