True but the word "gay" seems to have taken on another meaning in that context then the extreme derogtory word. It seems to be more associated with the terms "lame, dumb, boring, stupid" than the current term. Hell it originally meant happy.

And the word nigger originally had nothing to do with the African race, and current has a very different connotation in certain scenarios than it did during the slavery and/or civil rights era.

Please dude, don't compare the word "gay" and "******" as if their in the same context. Their worlds appart in offense. The only people truly offended by that term are the ones that are super-sensitive to begin with. Now something like "***" thats different, thats more in line with trying to demean someone. I have heard "gay" used by far too many people and settings to give it that same level of offense. Hell my post is example of that, notice how the two offensive words are taken out yet gay remains.
