Evangel's Slugfest Showdown Tournament Information

I will be hosting the 1st Annual Slugfest Tournament. You must enter the tournament with a team of comic book characters. (No Anime or Manga Characters) Western Comics Only.

Team & Draft Information

Teams will consist of seven members:
1. One Herald-level member
2. Two War Machine-level lmembers
3. Two Spider-Man-level members
4. Two Captain America-level members

Every team must consist of at least one female member

Drafting will be on a "first come, first serve" basis

1. There will be four days of drafting

• Day one will be for War Machine to Herald-level characters
• Day two will be for two Spider-Man to War Machine-level characters
• Day three will be for two Captain America to Spider-Man-level characters
• Day four will be for two Aunt May to Captain America-level characters

Rules for Characters

Certain powers are banned

1. Absorbing powers that injure the absorbed character (IE., Rogue)

2. Telepathic mind shutdowns (IE., Jean Grey causing a foe to think themsleves into death, or simply pass out)

3. Offensive organic matter manipulation (IE., Sersi turning a foe into a pig)

• Manipulating one's own organic matter to heal, or regenerate lost body parts is acceptable

4. No death touches/stares/blasts/etc (IE., Decay making a foe's body break down)

5. Reality warping (IE., Franklin Richards bending the time-space continuum to suit his will)

6. Character retrieval (IE., Rick Jones using the Destiny Force)

7. Multiplying (IE., the Multiple Man)

8. Time warping (IE., Hourman)

9. On-the-fly adaptation (IE., Doomsday's ability to come back from the dead immune to whatever killed him)

10. Mind/body swapping (IE., Doctor Doom's mind transfer)

11. Mind control (IE., Emma Frost taking over a foe's mind and using him to fight his own team, kill himself, etc.)

• A mental attack on an opponent is allowed though.

12. Power negation/boosting (IE., Fabian Cortez enhancing a mutant)

• This rule extends to anyone who can enhance a character's pre-existing powers or give them new powers entirely

Battle Information

There will be a 24 hour time period for battles. A new thread will be created for each round of the tournament. A poll will be created, and after the 24 hour time period is over, then whoever has the most votes on the poll wins.

Votes must come from board regulars. (No random new guy popping up and voting)

. Battlefield removals are non-existant

Prep-time will consist of two hours on the battlefield and with teammates

Teams begin their prep at opposite ends of the battlefield.

1. To prevent premature fighting, the battlefield is split in two, right down the middle

• The battlefield split makes it impossible for teams to spy on one another via any means

G. The battlefield changes climate/location for every battle, but remains a constant 10 square miles

1. Battlefields are devoid of humans, but retain a natural abundance of common materials and animals

Examples of areas of battle:

• arctic ice field
• barren desert
• deciduous forest
• tropic jungle
• empty cavern
• metropolitan city
• The Moon
• Himalayan mountain range

Additional Information

The tournament host, me, has the right to overturn any character selections

Links about the character chosen must be provided for all characters upon drafting

Certain characters are banned:

1. Hourman
2. Rogue
3. Decay
4. Multiple Man
5. Lord Tantalus
6. Zoom II
7. Amalgams
8. Amazo
9. Super-Adaptoid
10. Stonecutter
11. the Engineer
12. the Doctor

All characters are fighting to save the one thing they hold dear

Teams will receive the opposing team's roster, but no more

Characters who have had canon meetings will remember facts on one another and can share this information with their teammates

In order to participate, you agree to everything listed above

Drafts will begin this Friday, October 8th, 2004.

If there isn't enough forum interest or enough participants then the tourney is cancelled

I'm interested, already have a working list of characters. Hopefully I get the ones I want on Friday. Oh bother.

Submit a reply to let me know whether or not you're participating. Also, I might instead change the draft to monday to give people more time to think of their teams.

Can I post my whole team now? How is this going to work - by poll only, do people get to make statements?

Not sure but I think these two would get beat by any herald level character so they qualify on this level?

3. Gamorra (Infinity Watch) and Nova (New Warriors)
No time gem for Gamorra hence only has fighting ability and strength.

4. Stick (Daredevil's mentor) and Moon Knight

No you cannot pick your teams now. The draft will be on monday. You must also provide links to a site that provides a bio (history, backround, what his powers are, etc) for your characters.

I will make a draft thread on Monday for your one herald level character choice.

Basically you post your pick in the draft thread hopefully before anyone else can take your choice. If someone takes it before you then you must choose a different character.

In regards to voting:

You will make a statement saying who you voted for and why.

In order to hopefully sway people to vote for your team, you may (but not required) submit a strategy write-up. Basically your strategy and thoughts on how and why your team will win against the other team.

It's not that I'm not interested, it's just I don't know enough about enough to figure out a team.

Don't trip Evangel, this thread just started, give it some time. Some people either haven't been back to the site yet, or they might be considering their characters, or, like me, just don't have enough time for all the details you're asking for. I'd like to get involved, but I'm only gettign a couple of hours of online time while I'm deployed, since I have other things to do. I could probably give some character ideas to others, but I can't get into it myself though. The few I could suggest to folks here are Juggernaut, Deathstroke, Flash, Black Panther, Green Lantern (any one of them), Martian Manhunter, just to name a few. Those are my few suggestions, it's up to y'all to do the rest though. And that's my comtribution to this thread, definitely a good idea, just one I don't have enough time for. ❌

The 1st draft will take place monday for your herald level character. They cannot be stronger than herald level. You must also provide a link for your character. I also reserve the right to overturn any character I feel would be unfit for the tournament.
