And back on topic... in Evangelion, its obvious that Asuka and Shinji really love each other, but their insecurities prevent them getting together... also Shinji has a thing for Rei, but this is confounded by the strange feeling that she might be doing his dad.... plus I think Ritsuko had a thing for Misato....
