i always like Lauren Hill

I'd say Lauren Hill, MC Lyte, or the hunny that rolls with DTP and just came out with her album, Shawnna. I haven't heard her whole album but she's nice.

Lauren Hill from the Fugee days was the only one that sprang to mind as exceptional. I remember MC Lyte from way back, surely there must be loads out there.

Sole is the best by far. She's better than 80% of the male rappers out there.
