Actually you seem to be right. I went back to the scans because I asked someone to post the whole fight. I dont think it shows Wolverine knocked out but it does show him getting his face smashed in and not hitting Spiderman at all.............

Who cares who was getting hit more? That is irrelevant in a real fight. All that matters is who wins. Spider-Man was incapable of hurting Wolverine. He realized his attempt was futile and tried another tactic, one that was equally as futile. Spider-Man tried to break Logan's neck, a stupid move considering it's impossible. Wolverine was sitting on him, ready to spear his skull. Advantage? Wolverine.

That would be an acceptable answer, if Cap DID die in a few moments. But Cap was walking him back when he was attacked, and Wolverine jumped him from behind.
How much time do you think passed between the time Wolverine dealt the blow and the time Cap collapsed? Not long at all, maybe five minutes. If Cyclops and Emma weren't there to whisk Cap way to get medical attention he would have died.
