I am a fan of the old trilogy puppet overall, but I have to say I am very impressed with Episode 3's CG Yoda. He's very improved looking over Episode 2's one (which had some really good shots, but also some so so ones). But in Episode 3 he looks like the very good shots from Episode 2...And that cloth they've got down a lot better as well....with three years since Episode 2, the fx SHOULD be improved...so thats cool.

I wish GL didnt use so much digital effects in AOTC and ROTS because it just doesnt have that look to it like the other movies do. He should definatly still use models instead of being lazy and just using a computer. I'm not saying that he shouldnt use and digital effects its just that its not as good as it can be if he didnt use it especially since most of the digital effects are so obvious like the space battles are.
Far from being the 'easy option' CGI is far harder and more time consuming to do. Thats not to decry Frank Oz's fantastic work, just that where as he can walk in and prepare in a matter of hours is he wants to, CGI can take months of hard slog to get anywhere near right.
Personally I much prefer the CGI Yoda. Yeah they sort of messed up with it in Phantom menace due to it still being very new technology, but I have a feeling that ROTS is going to have a more realistic Yoda by far.
It really drives me nuts when people say Lucas is taking 'the easy way out' by using computer modelling in his films. Its not as if we're all living in the star trek universe where we can talk to a computer and tell it what we want, there's a lot of number crunching involved in cutting edge CGI physics just for starters!

So gunchips, what Yoda did you use on that great poster you did? The one above? I don't mean to be picky, I'm just a graphic designer who's always on the lookout for high-res art.
It is the same yoda shot that i used. I just enlarged it with photoshop 😉
