Iraq a safer place?
Is this proof that the US efforts to stabilize the situation in Iraq are failing? 380 tons of high explosives that they were responsible for were stolen from a weapons cache in American control.
In addition to making Iraq a more dangerous place, I think a mistake like that makes the whole world more likely to be victims of a terrorist attack. 380 tons! thats 760,000 pounds of high explosives that were under the control of American troops that vanished. Unaccpetable. And this isn't a fault at the local level, the individual soldiers... I admire their bravery, I wouldnt want their job, and they are trying to do the best they can there. But, this is a huge mistake made much higher up on the chain of command that reflects poorly on the whole approach to containing the Iraqi "insurgency." If you allow 380 tons of high explosives unguarded in a country thats at war, you have serious leadership problems.
I hope you take the time to read the whole article, and please mods dont close this right away... Im not trying to make this an election thread
