That was more dramatic than Gandalf's "you shall not pass" faux death moment and more noble than Bruce Willis' death on the moon and Mufasa saving Simba in Lion King, it transcends literature...

I cried manly tears on the latter two btw...

I was gonna add Zack Fair's death but I personally don't think Cloud was worth saving...

Nothing beats Simba looking down upon his father as he falls the pup had such a helpless look on his face 🙁. Whitebeard was epic though standing tall various wounds all over him.

so maybe Jimbei is going to be the latest nakama seeing as how Ace asked him to watch over Luffy?...

his skills would mos def be a welcome addition, I guess the trio of Smoker, Zoro, and Sanji standing behind Luffy in battle is just too badass to come true...

I don't think so. Jimbei was following Ace's dying wish, but he's still got a big bone to pick with Luffy over the Arlong arc and all the merfolk he beat down there.

I would like to point out that in order to save his brother, Luffy released hundreds of murders, rapists, and generally unpleasant individuals upon the world.

Lol.

It's little plot points like that which make One Piece awesome.

Not saying it shouldn't be done, but we haven't seen the nakama in two years, you need some kind of priorities.

NemeBro- true to an extent, but a lot of the people there are likely there for anti-government activity or being strong not-particularly-evil pirates. As we've seen on many occasions, just because the government considers you bad doesn't make you bad.

The largest share of escaped prisoners is also the Newkama.

This is true, there's no doubt some villains in there. The escapees are in three camps- the Buggy camp, which was just whoever made it out from the low levels and seem intent on following Buggy, the Newkama, who most likely have all been recruited into the revolutionary forces, Ivankov has standards.

So aside from the ones Blackbeard let out, at least most of the villains are limited to the weaker ones.

Well that's just vague. Seriously.

It is? He uses the words 'gratitude' and 'guilt,' there doesn't seem to be any indication of blame.

Why would he need to put it aside if it wasn't something that would interrupt what they were currently doing? Bein grateful to Luffy wouldn't get in the way of helping Luffy.

It's not a big interruption but it's unrelated to the task at hand, and the comments are still the opposite of having a problem with him, I'm guessing he's just a very focused individual and it'd be awkward to bring up. He already said he owed a heavy debt to Luffy too.
