ROB BOWMAN
The director of ‘Elektra’ speaks candidly on his vision of the film, its ties to Greek mythology and the chances of bringing the property to TV

44-year-old Texas native Rob Bowman made his bones directing dozens of episodes of “The X Files,” and he later went on to helm the “X Files” movie and 2002’s dragon epic “Reign of Fire.”

Rob Bowman Interview:

You have a huge background in television, with a couple of feature films under your belt now, and Jennifer’s most notable role, the one that started her career, is on television on “Alias.” Would you be willing to make a kick-ass Elektra television show with Jennifer reprising her role? I think we can do better than “The Trial of the Incredible Hulk.”

[Laughs] I don’t know! As a matter of fact, that’s the first time that’s ever been presented to me. I don’t know if Jennifer would do it. I believe very much in the movie and I believe there will be at least another one. I think she’s a superstar and it will be a while before she’ll be available for television again. Anything’s possible. Whether or not the Elektra character travels to television, we’ll see. I just don’t know about the likelihood of Jennifer doing it anytime soon.

Well, I just thought I’d put that out there…

You gotta be careful because we don’t want to do “Wonder Woman” again. And, I also think Elektra’s outfit, her assassin outfit, is a lot to swallow for television. I think it looks perfectly fine for the movie, and she looks amazing in it, but…

Well, they’ve got people on TV eating worms for money now, so I don’t see a problem with a half-hour of Elektra running around in leather.

Well, yeah. Who knows? What do I know?

'TheFilmProphet' alerted us that Wizard magazine has posted a big interview with Elektra director Rob Bowman along with a gallery of pictures from the film. Here's a clip:

But now he's the man behind one of Marvel’s most powerful women as he tackles directing duties on "Elektra," a follow-up to 2003's "Daredevil." Set to debut on Jan. 14, 2005 from 20th Century Fox, "Elektra" stars "Alias" headliner Jennifer Garner as an assassin who's resurrected by the ninjas who trained her.

~This is my third time doing this except under different names.~

🙁

Anyway back on topic-

I think an Elektra TV series would be too much like Garner's Alias TV series.

Errr...if it ties to Greek mythology, that means Elektra will be lusting after her father.

An Elektra series would be great! I agree that some people might have a problem with Jennifer Garner going into another 'action' show, but I think that the two characters/settings are sufficiently different that it could work if done properly.

Jennifer is one of the best female action stars I've ever seen.

How is a spy show like a show about assissins?

I'm not talking about the story. 🙄

I'm saying that Garner's previous show Alias would over shadow her new one because people would constantly be reminded of the old one and think it is the same thing. (you know the people who aren't familiar with the comics)

No I think they'll no the diffrence if she starts killing people with sai in a commicial

Nevermind you don't get it.

Elektra lover: Look at it this way. Suppose a new series was made starring Sarah Michelle Geller in which she plays a superhuman. For arguments sake, lets say it's a futuristic series and her character is an android. Clearly people are going to know that this is not "Buffy the Vampire Slayer", but there will still be comparisons made, because it's the same actress playing two superhuman characters.

I think that's what TheFilmProphet means

Thanks 😄

That is exactly what I have been trying to explain this whole time.
