No no... The point was that they just didn't give a shit. So people making it "cool" and going out to the charity place to find old, filthy, worn out clothes so they can look just like Kurt Cobain are defeating the entire purpose of it. Same with the punk movement. And probably numerous other trends that have come and gone over the years. The purpose wasn't originally to be "cool," so once it became "cool," it was obsolete.
