i have 6h, 2h, and hb pencils, i like them all

does anybody else know what the letter codes on pencils mean?

a higher # h pencil has harder lead, and makes a much lighter line, higher # b pencil has softer lead, and makes a darker line. hb is right in the middle

Well, Its Depends on the type for each category of pencil. I love Black Mirado lead pencils, but I’d rather have .5 size lead mechanical.

I prefer drawing in pencil to ink, I've got a variety from 4H to 6B. I like the softer leads better.

You make an interesting point. It's certainly faster than both the pen and pencil.
