i dont agree with the boy scouts thing because both have shown a dark side in recent years (cyke after apocalypse was in his head and supes in kingdom come). as for cyclops, well first of all i identify with him the most. he's not popular and doesnt try to be, he just gets on with it and does things how he likes. and as leader of the x-men, when it comes down to it, he'd be the one to decide who lives or dies, he makes the tough decisions, and has the conviction to carry them through. That takes more balls than people realise. The guy has been through hell also, with jean continually dying, sending his son to the future just so he wouldnt die. It takes character to keep doing what he does day in day out. and i admire that. wolverine'd get everyone else killed if he tried to do cyclops' job.
as for supes, i like him because the guy has felt like an outsider his whole life and yet he still would give up his life for these people. i think they f*cked up with the crisis, there's nothing wrong with obscenely over-powered heroes, just have villains that challenge them and it'll be ok. most people would consider superman to be a boyscout or a weakling for following earths laws, i do too, but the reason i liked him so much was because he was the best all round hero imo. hes the hero i wanted to be when i was younger. strength, speed, intelligence, but theyve taken away what made him great imo.
in my list i think ill be moving supes down the list eventually, because i believe the likes of Thor and surfer (i was a huge surfer fan in the late 80s early 90s) have overtaken him powerwise.
i know you guys'll never agree with me, but at least i hope u can understand why i chose who i chose. i have my reasons for every single one.
