Okay, this thread got me interested, and, what coincidence, I found Master of Puppets laying on my shelf (didnt know I had it, my dad got it for me a long time ago).
Im not very good at doing reviews but lets just say I really like the album (I might love it after a dozen listens, dunno). I especcialy like the brilliant arrangements and tempo shifts, backed with the heavy and often brilliant riffs. Not really related to the album, but James Hetfield's got a really cool voice to boot. It just fits the music perfectly. So far Mastet of Puppets is my fave song, but that could be due to the fact I downloaded (yep) the song, so ive listened to it about a hundred times now, but that doesnt take away that its a brilliant song which doesnt get the slightest bit boring even though its 8+ mins. I love the whole intro, with the brilliand break before the main (and brilliant) riff enters. The chorus is also memorable, with a vocal perfectly complementing the beautiful chord sequence (sorry, dont know the exact word). Then theres the beautiful intermezzo, giving a welcome break from the fast riffs. Anyway, ill just sum up the rest by saying its great, it just works. I might have the same feeling with the other songs after listening to them enough.
Then I might try ...and Justice for All, which I got today. I listened to it once, and it sounded a bit too complicated for a Metallica newbie like me, so ill just start with Masters.
Thx to all the people in this thread who made me pick this album up, youve broadened my musical horizon.
