I disagree. Though it is their most fluent it is also their most formulated. Which was the beginning of the end for Metallica. I am not trying to take anything away from the black album. It is obviously a milestone for them, but i think it was also there tombstone. After the black album they diddnt know what to do or where to go. In their process of recording load and reload it seemed like they tried to recreate the rawness of "the old days" with a formulated rhythm reminiscent of the black album. I surely dont know what happened to Metallica. I think maybe the loss of cliff had alot to do with the direction change of their music. I know things change and music has to change and grow to stay appealing, but the path the band went down was completely deferent from the paths Metallica made. St. anger is garbage and i dont know if the band can ever recover from that. That album had nothing worth while.
