Why isn't anyone gay in HP?

I would not mind as well to have a gay character in the books. But I guess JK is smart enough not to do it. Why? Because the books became controversial with the church attitude, and imagine if there was a gay character, god forbids a hero? Plus the issue with the sexual freedom is controversial ipso facto, the legality of the marriages and so on, thus the books would have been “awaited on long knives”, and this would have simply spoil the fun element of it, and I guess a lot of traditional parents would not have allowed their kids to read the book, thus the kids would have read the books even more and JK would have ended up accused as " Sokrates" for spoiling the youth and sharing evil spirit! I guess the world has not yet reached the level of civilization (with few exceptions) to accept as equals those who are slightly different in some of their basic habits, orientations, believes then the majority

Hello. I'm sorry to barge in on your little conversation, but I have an opposite opinion to voice!

I'm a BIG Harry Potter fan, so I don't want any of you guys thinking 'Oh, she just hates the books'. That's bull and you all know it. Also, yeah, I'm Christian, and I'm not affraid or ashamed to say it. That's part of the reason I'm against homosexuality, especially in a great series like Harry Potter which is WONDERFUL without that disgusting and obscene display.

Now, I just want to know where the hey any of you got the idea that Sirius and Remus are together, or even where you got the idea that they're GAY. They're straight. Sorry to crush your little 'Promote the Homos' rally, but that's the truth. J.K. Rowling has no reason to add something like that into her stories, and if you were to interview her now, I'd be willing to bet my last penny she would have no clue where anyone got that idea.

I'd also like to know, PinkDi@monds, why that would give the series a little flavor?

I think it'd be great to have at least one gay couple in the HP books, though none of the main characters. Maybe a secondary one. I mean, come on, there is nothing wrong with homosexuals.

i know their isn't but why does it matter if their was a gay couple or not. that isn't important at all...

People would freak out and Christians would ban the book more.... no offense Christians...
