T'was on the broken battlefield,
Defeat closed in, I meant to yield,
But as I turned to flee in fear,

Fight on until the battle's won,
And should you fall at your foe's blade,
Then this day was a Rider made,
Fighting when he nearly ran,
He rather chose to fall a man.
I turned and drew my sword up high,
Charged and roared a battle cry.
I met my foe and then we clashed,
Dodged and swung and punched and slashed,
Until at last I threw him down,
Our blood pooled on the muddy ground.
Staggered back, I hunched and fell,
Glad to know that I'd fought well,
Proud to know the battle won,
But most of all that I'd not run.
