Tom picked her up and put her back on the bed. "You're okay Angel. I won't let anything happen to you. I'm here to protect you and all the other Teen Titans."

Angel was laid on the bed. Her wings beat wildly like a captured bird trying to fly. She winced unable to find enough strength to lift herself off the bed. She glanced at Tom. What was he saying? Teen titans? Who were they? "Leave me alone.." Her voice was weak as her wings covered her again, desperate to shield her from their gaze.

Tom backed away form Angel. "Please don't be scared. We don't want to hrt you. We're going to protect you." He tryed handing her another blanket. "I'm Tom, your friend, your protector. I'll be here if you need help." He said gently, trying to calm her.

Angel shielded herself still. Her heart raced wildly as she tried to comprehend what he meant. Protector? Did she need one? She grasped the blanket and wrapped herself in it, gazing at him in a bit of fear and shock. She buried her face into her white feathers and tears ran down her cheeks.

Tom looked away from her as she cried. "Doesn't she remember me? Is she the same girl I used to know?" He thought to himself. He sat next to Angel and put his hand on her shoulder. "You don't have to worry, something strange happened to you and I will help you find out what." Tom assured her. He picked up a towel and wiped some tears from her face. "I'm going to do everything I can to help." He told her softly.

Angel glanced at Tom and slowly her wings began to part, tucking behind her back. She reached out a hand and touched his shoulder gently, searching for any darkness within him. She didn't find any, no blood lust, no power cravings... nothing. She withdrew her hand and curled her wings back around her, staying silent and mute as she nuzzled the white feathers with her nose.

Tom smiled at her kindly, his dull golden eyes shined lightly. "You see? I'm a friend, I'm here for you." He said, warmly.

Angel didn't look at him from her wings. However, her wings dipped down a bit, not as protective as before. She began to drift to sleep, her mind still lost in a sea of questions and thoughts as she rested her head against the silky feathers.

Tom stood up slowly and sat down in a chair across the room. "It's okay, you should rest. I'll be here to watch over you." He said gently.

Angel opened one of her eyes to glance at him before closing it and returning to her dreams, trying to forget all her thoughts and forcus on sleeping.

Tom sat back and sighed. He made sure nothing bothered her as she tried to sleep.

Spots of mud and dirt were clinging to her skin. She looked at Jacope II, wondering who he was. She curled her wings around her body, staying quiet as she gazed down at her feet.

Tom watched Angel for a moment and understood that she was uncomfortable. He got up and got Jacope and his father out of the room, he came back with some clothes and a towel. "Here, you might need these." He said kindly, putting the clothes and towel on a table. "I'll be right outside if you need anything else."

Angel watched them all leave and sighed heavily. She got up out of the bed and let the blanket fall to her ankles. She quickly ran to the bathroom and turned on the shower, waiting for the water to heat up. She glanced at the mirror and reality seemed to strike her hard. Her once beautiful strong face was pale, bruises decorated her cheeks, her hair was a mess, and dried blood rested upon her chin and lower lip. She touched her jaw to find it swollen and sore. What had happened to her? Curious, Angel glanced at the rest of her body, finding the same result as before. She sighed and stepped into the shower. The mud and dirt that laid upon her flesh quickly disappeared. Angel washed her hair and then gently cleaned her wings. They were stiff and blood was upon the tips. Angel felt refreshed after cleaning herself up. She stepped out of the shower and grabbed the towel, drying herself off. She walked out of the bathroom and spotted some clothes upon the bed. She grabbed the t-shirt and pants and quickly changed into them. Angel brushed her hair and then walked out into the hallway, looking down at her bare feet as her wings seemed to have disappeared, when really they were hidden within her back, a trick someone dear to her had taught her.
