Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly!
The meadow she lay sprawled in was blissful. The flowers matching the moon's beautiful face as if carved from her bosom and implanted into their coloration. It was a dye that many lusted for, but could never obtain. These flowers had once been called myths. What flower could possibly take the moon's beauty for its own? What plant had such talent that it could mimic the face of the lovely maiden? Few believe they ever existed, but this gorgeous face proved otherwise. Those petals that kissed the lunar orb so perfectly were defying all disbelief. They were claiming their own reality and savoring its sweet taste.
With her gown of white still wrapped around her body, she glanced up at the stars, swearing that each tiny little speckle was singing. A lullaby that left her heart in a still beat, her breath in a calm wave, her essence locked within a locket where she trusted it would remain safe... The breeze caressed her cheek, rubbing against her pallid skin. Her tresses of brown hair graced across her face, an occasional strand brushing over her lips; lips of soft pink and crimson color. They were pursed, deep within her thoughts as she looked at that choir of twinkling specks.
How long had it been, she wondered. How long had it been since she'd been kissed? How long had he been gone from her side? How long had he left her alone in the world? How long... How long ago was it that she'd held his lifeless body in her hands? Where was he? Where was her love, her life, her very being? He was her other half. Without him, she felt hollow as if gutted out with something so precious to her no words would explain it.
Just as she reached up, her digits outstretched to take the moon in her hand and press her lips to it for some sort of redemption... A voice came to her ears. A pressure had been placed against her scarlet lips, leaving her slightly startled. Had the moon been so bold to kiss her? No. It still hung timidly within the sky. Then, what had done it? The voice returned and she was jerked from that meadow, falling into the soil to sink against a darkened abyss.
Her eyes opened, revealing the two azure gems locked within that sea of milky whiteness. Her pupils were wide, trying to fixate on the face of the silhouette above her. The breeze came again, sending his intoxicating perfume back into her lungs. With her eyes narrowing, she peered into that face. His features made her gasp. It.. It couldn't be...!
"Tom?"
A moment's pause. She had to make sure this wasn't a dream. With her digits moving carefully to his face, she touched his cheek lightly and ran her palm over the smooth surface. Had he truly returned? Had he really... Was he really there beside her? Was he back from where she could never hold him again?
"Oh Tom!"
With tears collecting in her eyes, she flung her arms around him, hugging onto him with the droplets of her happiness rolling down her face. Kissing his cheek and wherever she could reach, she pulled away to look into his eyes. At that moment, she didn't care how he'd returned to her. She didn't care if it were a dream or not. She didn't care if she was insane. She was seeing him!
Gently cupping his cheek, she eased forward to press their lips together. Her hand fell from his face, moving to wrap around his neck and deepen the embrace their lips held. Never again... She was never going to lose him. Despite the young one, still inside her womb, she pressed herself as close to him as she could. She couldn't stop herself from ending that kiss. She wanted it to last forever. She had him back... Her breath, her glow, her life, her love, her Tom...
