Theres all kinds of info on the web about making your own hilts. Everything from making the hilts seen in Ep 4 using photography flash kit handles and other actual pieces that Lucas and company used, all the way down to going on the cheap and picking up a bunch of stuff from the hardware store or junkyard and cobbling it together into somehting cool.
Google up "custom lightsaber hilts" or somehting like that.
