This myth posted here AGAIN?
How many times???
This was just someone's dumb joke from a verrrrrrrrry long time ago, and I've seen it three times at this place, at least.
Here are the facts that kill this one:
1. Both sides used pencils in their early days
2. As Tpt says, a non-pencil implement was sought by BOTH sides because pencils were dangerous- other reason is, you were looking for something that does not burn- ship atmospheres are oxygen rich
3. Fischer developed the 'space pen' for NASA at no charge. They did not seek him for it, he invented it and offered it to them free of charge
4. After its invention, BOTH sides used it.
So that is that.

and who says Christmas isn't a commercial holiday? 🙄
True, its not a commerical holiday though, at least it wasnt meant to be. It is now. I justify it by saying if jesus got presents on 25th December i do too. If my religion demands i have to 'be pleased to be part of the suffering of christ' i believe i can be part of the 'be a greedy little bastard on christmas day like my son' part of the deal 😉

And because of Cocaine, we got Coca-Cola, they had to go and change the formula though.
Ah, yes. But If coloring weren't added to Coca-Cola, it would be green. That drink is so messed up

During the heat of the space race in the 1960s, the U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration decided it needed a ball point pen to write in the zero gravity confines of its space capsules. After considerable research and development, the Astronaut Pen was developed at a cost of about US $1 million. The pen worked and also enjoyed some modest success as a novelty item back here on earth. The Soviet Union, faced with the same problem, used a pencil.
dude, seriously... who uses a pencil in space. lame ass commies.
Come on now. Is this one of those usual American cover up for their goof ups. 😘 A la Saddam is a devil cover up for NO WMD...or I want OIL do Saddam has WMD stuff...
People we all know that the so called lead pencil, contains no lead but graphite. Graphite is also called black lead, and hence the name lead pencil.
To the best of my knowledge, graphite is not poisonous or toxic. Graphite is like Diamond, or one level lower. It is used in nuclear turbines, along with hard water and other coolants to keep the reaction and temperature in check.
If they were too worried about the wood, in the least, they could have made the wood fire resisting or some similar stuff. Would have proved much less costlier...
What do you reckon!
