So true, its also about home grown fascism in the uk as a result of the Tory Party in the 80's. The film sounds awful 🙁

It surely is inspired by that, but that doesn't make the Novel obsolete, on thw one hand it can still happen (I assume you read the comic, you will know that the Fascism didn't come aboot because of something the UK did), and there are other themes that are still interesting and current as they were back then. I think you jsut read it under the impression it had to be aboot Thatcher and nothing else...maybe you should take a step back, a deep breath might help, and then read it again and just let the whole Novel speak to you, not only one aspect.

Just watched the Two Trailers. and well, my hopes are high. The Comic is probably one of the Top 3 I have ever read and I hope that it is well done. The thing that bothers me a bit is that I think that for some reason Evey didn't try to sell herself to the cop, I mean it's jsut a slight change (if it is true at all) but why. I don't see the point. I hope Evey is not overly portrayed jsut cause Portman plays her. But except for that I think it could be a most awesome movie.

Dont hate on my girl. She'll do fine if the director did his part.... the director better do a damn well good job, bcuz this is his 1st movie to Direct.

I'd be DAMNED if i see another movie with bad directing.

[edit] JenR1215: Love your sig by the way. Awesome movie. [/B]

wickedph My fav. movie in the world.

I like ur's too. I've been trying to find Watchmen, but it seems I'm going to have to order it of the Net, like i did V4V.

Oh I am sure Natalie Portman can very well adopt to that role, she wouldn't have been my first pic but I guess I will get accustomed to her. The problem I see is that her character might receive more attention in the script, for what reason ever (my guess would be cause she is a famous star).

By the way did anyone find the "No" in the interrogation scene a little too confident? We'll have to see. (I guess I am trying to pic slight faults before I see the movie, because I didn't do with ROTS and now I am quite dissappointed)

Anyways, my hopes are up and going by the comic I guess I will be dissappointed anyhow....but it has the potential to be a really awesome movie. I'm curious as to how it will turn out.

P.S. Leon is a really awesome movie, I am quite a fan of Jean Reno he's at least in the TOP 5 of my favorite actors. I thought Natalie Portman did an astounding job too, though.

I bought V for Vendetta off the net too. Mostly because I wanted an english version. But you really, really need to read Watchmen...it might even surpass V for Vendetta.

I luuuuv Jean Reno. He so adorable 😊

I cant wait to see that Davinci Code!

What is Watchmen really about? I havent hear anything about it, except that its really good, and that i should read it.

V for Vendetta is really great. Watchmen is brilliant.

Hmm well the Theme is totally different. But I think I agree Watchmen is probably better.

V for Vendetta had one great character. Watchmen has at least three (Comedian, Rohrschah - is that the correct spelling ? - and dr. Manhattan.)

Not only that, but Watchmen is also more of an epic story. I really like'em both, but Watchmen is better. Imo.

I read the script of the movie-adaptation of Watchmen. It's so bad you just want to cry.

V for Vendetta had a few interesting characters and an unblelievably awesome Main Character.

Watchmen had one awesome character, three pretty decent ones (Doc, Comedian, Ozymandias), and a few good supporting ones.

Over all Watchmen takes it but only a little. The political message and the greatness of the storyline is unbelievable in V for Vendetta. Watchmen, as you said, is more epic...

It's Rorschach I believe.

Wheree did you read the Script from?

If you live in France...... I Envy you.

Watchmen is a far superior work to V for Vendetta, but obviously personal tastes and appeals are more important to each individual.

I'm not sure about the film, I think it might be good. It seems like a GN that will be hard to mess up; Watchmen on the other hand will be a disaster, if they ever get round to it.

I agree with the second. The first, hmm I wouldn't see a reason why Watchmen is FAR superior.

Many reasons- quality of plot, dialogue, thematic coverage, intertextual elements, scope, character development, innovation of form, depth of meaning, and in general the fact that Moore had increased greatly as a writer in the intervening period.

He did, but maybe he picked a better Theme for VfV to begin with.

From a political perspective, certainly. I wouldn't say so in literary terms. It obviously comes down to what people value in their reading material.

Well, I guess you got a point with the reasons but as for Moore increasing skills as a writer I mean VfV was published between 82 and 85 and Watchmen 86 to 87 I don't know if it can have been that much.

Well, it's evident in the writing. Although it's fair to say that the skills may have been latent already.

what other Alan Moore gn, besides Watchmen, are good?

From Hell; The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen; Promethea; Tom Strong.

More or less anything he has written is good.

I'm really going to try and find Watchmen. I haven't really seen the movies to From Hell or The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen

Which is probably good, since ppl have they sucked-ass and shit.... Eveyone around here like the movies though.

They aren't very good films.
