I don't get what you mean, if anyone else can see all that in it, fine but all I see is a funky background the the head of a storm trooper firing a gun.
All the images build up the texture adding to the 'Funky Background' the main focus is the ST. If you look to the right of the sig there are three fade white lines, Wolverines claws...

because usually that gives it a 2d feel, to create depth one must intergrate the render more with the backgroung, smudging is a good technique for this or adding many layers different or not and changing their blend modes also acomplishes this, 🙂
I know how the last two work. I dont like adding allot of layers on my backgrounds. (It's a style issue for me)
"Smudging" (Using Photoshop , how would this be accomplished?)
But also remember allot of it is on style. Something people should remember when posting here, people often rate based on their style preferences.
Example:
I did a sig in my sig thread called "Marvel Family" most people seemed to like it, I really don't cause I didn't keep to my style with it.

OKay this is sooooo off topic but smuging,
use a dark background, preferably a colour from your image, duplicate you image a number of times, say five. Hide four of them. On your frst image use a chalk style brush with scatter settings and sudge set to aout 60. sumdge this layer out and set it to lighten or screen.. Keep all the images in the same plac through out this. then unhide another layer of your image and repeat the smudge but not as much again change the blending mode. do this for each layer (except for one) reducing the amount of smudging every tme you start on a new layer. on your last layer reveal it and select the eraser tool, soft brush about 30 px and set the opacity to cira 30 % maybe 20% then erase slight parts of your top image, you could also add different gradient maps for different layers or try different blend modes.
sorry that was vague
