You seem to be discussing 2 different things here: 1) best wrestler and 2) best gimmick match...
So first things first.. I think you should define what type of wrestler you mean .. lots of things come into play with picking a wrestler.. like
-ring skills(technical moves,etc)
-mike skills(talking in ring,interviews,etc)
-persona( how he comes across to the fans-good guy or bad guy/heel)
-looks(physical body)
-gimmick
-overall performer(great matches, the whole deal)
So here are some of my choices:
Best with ring moves- Kurt Angle, Chris Beniot, Bret Hart
Best on the mike- clear #1- Flair, then HBK, Jake the Snake, HHH
Persona- Hulk Hogan, Ultimate Warrior, Rock, HBK, Foley/Mankind,Sting
Looks- Batista, HHH, Ultimate Warrior, Lex Luger
Gimmick- Undertaker, Mankind/Cactus Jack, Road Warriors,
Overall- I pick HBK, Ric Flair, Bret Hart, Sting
Now for my gimmick match...some of you need to go back and look at some tapes of old NWA/WCW and take a look at the greatest gimmick matches of all time.... THE WAR GAMES!! --2 rings enclosed in a chain link fence(ala hell in a cell) , then you have 2 -3 man tag teams go at it.You start off with 1 man from each team, then at intervals, you send another man from a team(its then 2 on 1) until another member from the other team goes in to make thing even, you do this until all men are in the cage/ring and then the match actually begins.. you win by pinfall or submission!
sorry mate but the best wrestler for all the things you mentioned is kane.
second the gimmick match stuff is just a poll nothing else (why dont you vote) but as you mention it the best gimmick match ever is the battle royal. also that war game match is quite like the elemanation chamber match and they have been geting boring latley

Kane himself is one of the best gimmicks in wrestling in the last twenty years... if you want to go by the complete package, he'd be up there (well at least he was before he took the bloody mask off). I've never seen wrestlers shit themselves like they did when they knew kane was after them... He was one of my favourites...
Then the mask came off...
As an actual wrestler in terms of ability Kane was severely lacking, he wasnt a grappler, but he did have a couple of devastating moves. He was no Kurt Angle though...
Best Gimmick? Possibly... Best Wrestler? No, not by a long way...
