I was listening to a local radio show this morning, and they were discussing this store "Build-A-Bear." The store is primarily a plush toy distributor with a very clever twist...

It is indeed genius marketing in its prime... but what about the parents. Every person that called in about Build-A-Bear was saying that employees do not even consult the parents about whether the child can receive all of the extra accessories on their bear. They ask the children what THEY want... and you know that if a parent tries to intervene and say, "No, your dog cannot have slippers," that is just asking for a public tantrum to ensue.

Oh come on it is just a stupid store where kids can pick out there favorite bear.My boyfriend got me one that looks like him!Lame I know but it is cute.

With you being a parent.. I would have thought you would see my point of view. Just goes to show that you should never make assumptions. 😉

They are kinda pricey, if you buy little clothes etc, but hey she only goes once a year so what the heck. 🙂

One person bought three bears. The grand total was approximately $200.00 USD.

That is roughly $67.00 a bear. $67.00 FOR A PLUSH DOLL?!? That is madness.

We have one in cardiff! You can have their clothes and even a voice box! But no-one loves me enough to get me one!

They ask the children, and children have no concept of monetary value, or budgets. They ask what accessories, clothes, shoes, ect. they children want on the bear, and you know the kid wants their bear to have sunglasses and a cute little shirt.

It is, more or less, very low and disgraceful.

Well the bears here are priced £15.99 and all the accessories are priced too! So here the parents can see how much they spend. But you get a cute box and a birth certifcate too!
