They did just fine with Mighty Joe Young and 1998 and he was a 15 foot tall animatronic robot.

Not at all, I would use animatronics over CGI any day.

CGI is only good if used wisely. These days they make a meal of it.

Films are all about CGI these days, they might as well ALL be animated films.

lol, i remember how awsome I thought that stop motion was back when the movie came out. I look at it now and wonder how in the hell it ever dropped my jaw in the first place.
