Folk/Viking Metal

As you probably guessed, the question is:
What are your favourite folk and/or viking metal bands?

I would like to recommend the following:

Amon Amarth (Sweden, viking) - Bashed by many, but I think they're great
Bathory (Sweden, viking) - Simply: A legend
Cruachan (Ireland, folk) - Very relaxing, not your common folk metal band.
Einherjer (Norway, viking) - Black metalish stuff, very melodic
Ensiferum (Finland, folk) - Quite big here in Finland, have made some nice covers like "Breaking the Law" and "Näitä Polkuja Tallaan"
Mithotyn (Sweden, viking) - Probably my favourite. "King of the Distant Forest"-album is pure art
Moonsorrow (Finland, folk) - The most "folkish" metal band I know
Windir (Norway, viking) - Most would probably call this black metal, but I prefer it as viking metal
Wintersun (Finland, folk) - Much like Ensiferum, but more chaotic

The only band I like that is even remotely folky is the Proclaimers!

Wow now we're really delving into the wacky sub-genres. Viking metal leads to celtic metal, battle metal (and my personal favorite) 'Tolkien metal'. Keep 'em coming I say.

would Nightwish or Avantasia fit into that category?

Epic metal, pagan metal...I wonder if they ever stop coming. >_>

Nigthwish, no. It's more like power/opera metal.
Avantasia is opera metal.

i read that list and orgasmed. all KILLER bands, but i love Bathory, and esc. Amon Amarth. i have this video where the singer raises his arms in a song and screams "ODIN!!!" then your like "dude, theyre so viking."

You ever heard of Finntroll?? theyre a Folk metal band, and sing about drinking beer and trolls eating preists. nothing like Scandanavian metal with polka breakdowns.

never heard of many of those bands but i will check out

I've only heard of MoonSorrow

Wow, I'm gonna make a band like these and sing about "The Four Corners Of The Universe!" and "Odin's Blood!" and "Excelsior!".

Crazy stuff.

Also, aren't the Dropkick Murphy's folk-ish?
