Veleanith stood in a crouch, looking down to the rushing Drow warriors from the darkened canopy of the trees. She hadn’t been expecting them to come so soon and hadn’t gotten enough time to run all the way back to the site. ‘It would take me less than a minute to make it from here…but with the unexpected crowd, it will possibly take five...ah wells…for them.’
Flexing out her fingers, Veleanith watched with fangs bared as her nails grew unusually sharp, no longer dainty or petite. Her eyes had taken on a tiger yellow, cold and ruthless under the moonlight. Hair flaring out wildly from her sudden change, she crept along a sturdy branch, holding back a hiss of anticipation, lowering her claws inches away from an unsuspecting head.
“Precious…” she growled, unearthly in the night. Several Drow paused in their steps, looking up with either bow or sword raised. Veleanith had already dropped down on a slow to act Drow, crashing his head into the earth, forcing her nails threw his skull. Crouching down upon his corpse, she let out a hiss, dashing away from the body as countless arrows flew her way.
Turning back to her assailants, she let out a fierce whisper, sweeping her fingers upward to the skies. The trees surrounding her came back to life, shaking off the dark that had covered them. With mighty groans and creaks, the branches swung downwards, sending many Drow airborne, partially clearing Vele’s path.
For the rest that lay in her path, she lunged forward, impaling her claws in yet another face. Hearing the swish of a blade cut through air, she ducked, swinging her leg beneath the sword wielder and knocking them to the ground. Snatching their weapon as it flipped in the air, she stabbed downwards, pinning them into the ground. Leaping from the ground, she jumped at a Drow preparing to fire, sinking her claws into their neck, blood splashing across her attire.
Veleanith lived for it, the battle, the blood, the warm liquid forming little pools onto the ground. It was just the way she got when she was raged, her true vampiric form. Looking around her, she realized that during her little enjoyment, a few dozen Drow had taken the time to surround her, arrows raised. They fired, Veleanith twirling and pivoting across the forest to avoid each shot, dancing to the sound of thunder and the twanging of bows, a feeling of excitement welling into her being.
Stopping mid twirl, Veleanith placed a hand inside her cloak, voice coming out rough, ominously beautiful leaving her throat. “You all will regret not killing me…” Taking out her scarlet rose, she cracked it down to the ground, the stem growing into a jagged sharp thorny whip. Tilting her head, she let out a low hiss, smiling devilishly. “Most who see me smile do…”
Cracking her whip upwards, Veleanith started to swirl hypnotically, dancing around to an invisible rhythm as her rose spun by, cutting to pieces anyone and anything within a twenty yard radius. At seeing the blood red liquid decorate the night sky, enemy screams echoing into the night, her skin bathed in the life giving liquid, she started to laugh deliriously, cackling like a she devil as thunder rolled into the sky, lightning illuminating the psychotic delight in her eyes.
After a few more seconds, satisfied at the blood content and the death of those around her, Veleanith reduced her whip back into normal form, licking away blood from her fingertips. She didn’t have to worry about cleaning the rest of her clothing or body, as at that point, rain started to fall down heavily from the skies, cleansing away the sticky blood from her hair, the sudden chill of freezing water bringing her back to her senses.
Exhaling, Veleanith felt her rage diminish as each raindrop fell, washing away her killing spree instinct and the bloodbath she had made. Placing her rose back into her cloak, her eyes reverted back into their bright golden state, she feeling a boost of confidence at seeing an elven warrior taking down a Drow. ‘It seems I have managed to make it back to the site…’
The twanging of three bows from behind her caught her attention. Glancing back, she noticed three glints of silver escaping the shadows and making their way towards her. She didn’t attempt to dodge or evade, instead waiting when the bows were feet away from striking her. She rose up a hand, the grass at her feet instantly rising up and catching all three arrows.
“Mine.” Taking the arrows from their entrapment, she took out her bow, lodging all three arrows back to the attackers, striking them through their necks. Getting ready to take better aim at the rest of the Drow coming from the forest, she stepped back, bumping into a bulky figure.
Turning, Veleanith raised both her brows, looking up to a tall Drow, judging by his appearance and armor, one of high stature. He looked down to her with scrutiny, then in a sneer. “Insolent vampiress!”
To her shock and amazement, he picked her up by the top of her scalp, her feet leaving the ground as he raised her up to eye length. A black gem around his neck started to rattle crazily despite the lack of wind, a dark circle of shadow starting to build from it. Veleanith didn’t bother to try and block it, she could feel it in her bones, it was powerful, out of her range of expertise.
With a burst, the shadow expanded, sending Veleanith flying from the Drow’s grasp and through the ranks of huntresses and Drows, she skidding to a stop deep into the rain soaked grass, thick mud across her cloak. Doing a handstand, she quickly sprang to her feet, analyzing the opponent before her.
He was a strong, perhaps the strongest of the bunch. Made up of muscle, her whip wouldn’t serve to do much damage if any to him. His shadow affinity…it was scary, it almost made her tremble, only so few had a power up to that level. Licking away the blood from her bottom lip, the push of shadow having managed to bust it, she flexed out a claw, arching an eyebrow. ‘He might serve to be a problem…’
Not thinking about the mini battles around her or who the Drow she was about to fight could be, Veleanith took out her rapier, finally growing serious. “Entertainment at last…”
