There isn't a logical explanation of how Galactus could beat Superman. Superman could vibrate through anything Galactus threw, including Pulsewaves, Kryptonite waves, Red radiation waves. And then punch him into the entropy at the end of time, blow solar systems at him, any number of ways. Galactus has been defeated by much less than the most insane version of Superman.

Classic Thor has given Galactus problems, Superman will too. Pre-crisis Supes, even more. But Galactus still wins.
