Actually, mutants are real, and are members of the human race, in ways that confer distinct physical advantages and also disabilities.
__In Germany a toddler had a condition where he had muscle mass like a weight builder- I kid you not. He had two copies of a mutant gene inherited from both mother and father, who were successful athletes with one copy each. The gene promoted muscle growth (or was it a gene that was supposed to break down excess muscle tissue, but didn't work? I can't remember). With two copies, the poor kid is in danger of having an enlarged heart.
__Anyway, the case led to the discovery that this mutant gene is often present in accomplished athletes.
__NYcowgirl may also have mutations in certain genes, such as the ones that regulate brain chemistry. Take that whichever way you'd like.
