you have a point.he only threantened to kill DD because he didn't want Lord Voldermort to kill him or his family .then he hesitated and lowered his wand ,that is , untill the Deatheaters arrive
Snape evil? I don't think so. Hmmm.....let us think about this for one moment. Snape was arguing with Dumbledore earlier in the book about something. Harry wasn't sure what it was of course. Later in the book.......Dumbledore is keeping Malfoy going with much conversation. We all know Dumbledore is not one for on going useless conversation and he would not have been interested in how Malfoy devised such a plan. He is not the type of wizard to beg for his life either. It is my theory that Dumbledore knew about the oath Snape made with Malfoy's mother. When Dumbledore was pleading with Snape.....he never once plead for his life....he just said please. Wonder why that is? Hmmm....could it be what Dumbledore and Snape were arguing about? This is JK Rowling we are talking about people.....think! Also pay attention to the fact that on the way out....Snape killed no one else....or even tried to for that matter. It is also my theory that Snape is needed for something else.....something Dumbledore had planned. Maybe he knew he was going to die and wanted Snape to be the one to do it.....make him look even better in the Dark Lord's eyes. Let us remember also that Dumbledore knew things others didn't. He might have thought his death important. We'll soon find out. All I know is that JKR left too many loops.....too much to think about for the "Snape is evil" to be definate.

Even if its not ment to be in the books we know there in love out side of them.... And thats really what counts
