The Official Site revealed some dialogue of Palpatine and Darth Sidious in their latest update:

Palpatine:

Palpatine stays in his chair as the four Jedi enter he, smiles a toothy grin.

This makes even more sense based on the yesterday's BTH. The thing they were next to must be the escape pod in question.
